Marciana Marina
Marciana Marina, a holiday centre surrounded by greenery, spreads in a semicircle around a picturesque inlet which, enclosed to the west, forms a historical harbour.
It is the smallest municipality of Elba.
Formed in 1884, the village was originally made up of only a few fishermen's houses in the area called "Cotone" and small peasant hamlets inland. Today, Marciana Marina is a charming village, laid out in keeping with the seashore, a centre of nearly 2000 inhabitants, an island in the island.
The symbol of the village, the XII Century Pisan Tower, overlooks the harbour, originally a safe haven and port for the commerce of the wine produced from the hills of the island and which, today is one of the main tourist ports for mooring pleasure boats.
A holiday in Marciana Marina is enriched by the surroundings, offering wonderful walks and incomparable views, which are worth more than a fleeting visit.
Sporting activities: diving centre, kayak, sailing, trekking, tennis.
Beaches: Marciana Marina has two shingle beaches, the smaller (in front of the village) and "LA FENICIA" which has two bathing establishments with imported sand.
There are delightful coves along the coast, close to the village, some of which within walking distance.
